Naming of the THV Galatea & an Audience with Her Majesty The Queen

A cadet was invited by Trinity House to the naming of their ship THV Galatea.  The ship was moored beside HMS Belfast and the Master of Trinity House was in attendance. The Duke of Edinburgh arrived 15 minutes before the Queen so that he could be in place to greet Her Majesty in his capacity as master of Trinity House, the organisation that maintain's Britain's lighthouses and other aids to navigation.

The Duke made a speech before the vessel was blessed by the Bishop of London. The Queen then named the ship and released the customary bottle of Champagne.

The cadet was the third person introduced to Her Majesty The Queen as she boarded HMS Belfast along with the Duke of Edinburgh.  The cadet had the opportunity to speak to Her Majesty again during the reception after the naming ceremony.  This was a great honour for the cadet who attended the event as the Lord Lieutenants Cadet.

THV Galatea

This is the first year that there has been a junior shooting competition in the district and it is great news to say that West Ham Juniors took first place in the team and 1st, 2nd and 4th in the individual competition.

                                                                HMS Gleaner

Some of the cadets were invited to board our affiliated ship HMS Gleaner.  The cadets got a tour of the ship and had the opportunity to have their photo taken with the crew.

*** Congratulations *** Congratulations *** Congratulations***
